ARTICULATING TRAINING, INCLUSION AND RETRAINING: NOVAMINE PRESENT IN THE REGIONAL TALENT ROUTE 2025
September 8, 2025
In a new session of the 2025 Regional Talent Route, Novamine actively participated in the dialogue on the challenges of training, inclusion, and retraining in the mining industry. The event, organized by OTIC CChC, brought together representatives from the public and private sectors to promote a more equitable, innovative mining sector that is more connected to the realities of the region.

On September 2nd, at the Antofagasta Hotel, María Alejandra Giménez Uribe , General Manager of Novamine, participated in a new session of the Regional Talent Route 2025, an initiative promoted by OTIC CChC that seeks to connect training, productivity and territorial development, with a focus on the country's social and labor challenges.
During the event, authorities and representatives from the mining industry, startups, training centers, and companies discussed how training and human capital development can address three key areas:
✅ To connect young people from technical-professional high schools with real opportunities in the mining industry, shortening the gap between education and the world of work.
✅ Promote the effective participation of women in mining operations and leadership positions, fostering inclusive and equitable spaces.
✅ Facilitate the retraining of people over 45 years of age, recognizing their experience as a strategic asset in new technical and supervisory roles.
The event was opened by athlete and speaker Natalia Duco Soler , and continued with the panel “Territory and Talent: New Perspectives on Mining Training,” moderated by Barbara Veyl , Social Engagement Manager of OTIC CChC. The panel included the participation of:
Francisca Agliati , Human Resources Manager at Echeverría Izquierdo
Mariela Dahmen Lemus , Head of Public Affairs and Communities at Lomas Bayas, Carolina González Valenzuela , Corporate Training Manager at Finning South America and Felipe Alveal Meza , Public Affairs Manager at Antofagasta Minerals.
At Novamine, we appreciate the invitation to be part of this collective building space, where we continue to promote innovation, equity and local talent as cornerstones for a more sustainable mining industry connected to its environment.
💬 “Participating in the 2025 Regional Talent Route in Antofagasta was a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role we play as an industry in training and retraining talent in our regions. At Novamine, we firmly believe that the development of the mining industry of the future must consider the synergy of three key pillars: early engagement of young people, promoting the active and sustained participation of women at all levels of operations, and creating effective mechanisms for people over 45 to transition out of the workforce and continue contributing their experience. Spaces like this allow us to align our efforts and build a more humane, inclusive mining industry, better prepared for the challenges of tomorrow,” stated María Alejandra Giménez Uribe .
📍The next stop on the Talent Route will be in Biobío this October, where the challenges of the fishing sector and the future of work in that region will be addressed.
