This weekend, as part of the country’s most important educational-recreational event focused on childhood, Novamine took part in “Children Are Our North” (Los Niñ@s son nuestro norte), a community initiative organized by the Antofagasta Industrial Association (AIA), with the support of the Ministries of Education and Sports, the Undersecretariat for Children, the National Sports Institute, the Municipality of Antofagasta, and the Antofagasta Region Mining Cluster Corporation.

Held on the Exponor esplanade, the event brought together over 10,000 people for a day filled with fun and learning for children aged 0 to 12 and their families. Highlights included the Robot Soccer Contest, the exciting Meringue Battle, Zumba Kids sessions, musical performances by School of Rock, and various theater workshops, along with many other interactive, cultural, and sports activities.

Our General Manager, Alejandra Giménez, represented Novamine at the event and emphasized the crucial role such initiatives play in shaping future generations:

This latest edition of the event also featured prominent national sports figures such as Lucas Nervi, gold medalist in discus throw at the Pan American Games; Ignacio Gallo, multiple-time national mountain bike champion; and Eliseo Salazar, a legend in Chilean motorsports. They shared their experiences with attendees and inspired the youngest participants to pursue their dreams.

With its active participation, Novamine reaffirms its commitment to the community, supporting a vision of Antofagasta that places children at the heart of its economic and social development—becoming a national pioneer in building a model where children are central players in shaping the future.
