FIRST BRAZIL-CHILE JOINT STUDY: WOMEN-LED COMPANIES IN BILATERAL TRADE
September 29, 2025
Novamine was highlighted in the First Brazil–Chile Joint Study for its successful export track record in the Brazilian market under the leadership of María Alejandra Giménez Uribe. The report sheds light on the impact of women-led companies in bilateral trade and emphasizes how innovation, market knowledge, and cultural adaptation are key to sustainable internationalization with a gender-focused approach.

We took part in the First Brazil–Chile Joint Study measuring the participation of women-led companies in bilateral trade 🌎. 💼 Between 2021 and 2024, the number of Chilean women-led companies exporting to Brazil rose from 287 to 321, with the export value increasing from US$ 1.2619 billion to US$ 1.4195 billion.
🇨🇱🤝🇧🇷 NOVAMINE, based in the Antofagasta Region and led by María Alejandra Giménez Uribe, develops hydraulic lifting equipment focused on personnel safety and mining productivity, offering innovative solutions for large-scale mining both in Chile and abroad.
Since 2019, we have been exporting innovative solutions to the Brazilian market, achieving:
💰 US$ 4.18 million in exports
📦 23 shipments completed
🌎 Consistent presence in 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and now in 2025
Our experience demonstrates that:
✔ Technological innovation under female leadership can open doors in demanding markets
✔ Chilean SMEs can compete by offering high value-added products
✔ Understanding local culture is essential for successful internationalization
💬 “The first contact came through our website. We then studied the Brazilian mining market and confirmed its potential. The most challenging part is understanding the idiosyncrasies: culturally, we are different. My advice: study the market thoroughly, adapt your offer to the Brazilian context, and visit the country to prospect directly.” – María Alejandra Giménez Uribe, General Manager
This type of study not only brings figures to light but also showcases concrete journeys that inspire more targeted public policy. Novamine’s success story shows how female leadership and innovation can achieve sustained entry into competitive markets.
Special thanks to the Chilean Undersecretariat for International Economic Relations, ProChile, ApexBrasil, and MDIC for incorporating a gender perspective into trade. 🙌💜
